There is a wide range of permissions in Tempora that govern what a user can and cannot do. Individual permissions are grouped into roles which are then allocated to staff members.
Standard Roles
Tempora provides a range of standard roles out-of-the-box to help you get started, we have provided a full list of these roles below:

Grants the ability to allocate holiday entitlement to staff members. |

Grants the ability to perform any export under Reports > Export. |
Financial Controller |
Grants the ability to add, delete and modify fee schedules, income, discounts and time selling rates. |
Holiday Administrator |
Grants the ability to configure the holiday add-on. |
Holiday Approve |
Grants the ability to approve staff members’ holiday requests. The names of these staff members can be specified on the Delegates page. |

Grants the ability to approve holiday requests from anyone in the company (except their own holiday requests). |

Holiday Notification |
Grants the ability to receive email notifications for staff members’ holiday requests. The names of these staff members can be specified on the Delegates page. |

Grants the ability to record time on behalf of anyone in the company (except their own time). |

Grants the ability to record time on behalf of anyone in the same department (except their own time). |
Time Entry Supervisor |
Grants the ability to unposted timesheets. |
Allocating Roles to a Staff Member
- Click Admin > Staff > (Name of Staff Member) > Roles > (Name of Company)
- Tick the roles that you wish to allocate to the staff member
- Click Save
Please note that the only roles that you will be able to allocate to another staff member are the roles that you already have yourself.
Custom Roles
You can create a custom role that grants a specific set of permissions as follows:
- Click Admin > User Accounts > Roles > Add New
- Enter a Name for the new custom role
- Click Save
- Click Admin >User Accounts > Roles > (Name of your new custom role) > Permissions
- For Category = Time Entry, tick all of the permissions that you would like the custom role to grant
- Click Save
- Repeat Steps 5 & 6 for the remaining Category types
- Click Admin > User Accounts > Roles > (Name of your new custom role) > Staff Members > (Name of your company)
- Tick the names of the staff members that you would like to allocate your custom role to
- Click Save
Default Roles
To specify the roles that new future staff members will be allocated by default:
- Click Admin > User Accounts > Default Roles
- Tick the roles that you would like to allocate to all new future staff members by default
- Click Save
Troubleshooting
- I don’t know which role(s) grant a permission.
You can find out via Reports > Permission Reports > Roles with Permission. Select the permission you require and then click Run. The role(s) that grant that particular permission will then be listed.
- I don’t know what permission(s) are granted by a certain role.
You can find out via Reports > Permission Reports > Permissions for Role. Select the role you wish to query and then click Run. The permission(s) that are granted by the particular role will then be listed.
- I can’t see Admin > User Accounts > Staff > (Name of Staff Member) > Roles
You will only be able to allocate roles to staff members when you have the Staff Administrator role.
- I am unable to allocate a particular role to a staff member?
The only roles that you can allocate to staff members are the roles that you already have yourself.
